Male/Female Ratio

i have a male at the mo who is 8 inches and i am going to get a female tomorrow the same size but i have the opertunity to get a really nice male at 5 inches i have heard people say dont keep 2 males together with only 1 female but would they be ok for a while at there size?

sorry to highjack creepyoldguy but it thought it is kinda relevent.
 
No prob andysmith. I will shoot for 1m to 2f. Reason I ask, is because I'm keeping 2m (one of which is mature) and one female, and I've noticed some bite marks on my female (which I don't think is mature), so I didnt know if it was breeding behavior from my mature marble, or aggression from the immature henlei or both marble and hen. THanks for the responses guys.

well i have agreed to the male so i will have to see how 2 males to 1 female will go at least i have a while before they mature
 
I'm curious to hear from people with multiple females knocked up by the same male.

I can't seem to get a male to breed with more then 1 female. 3 to 1 here is just a draft pick. He won't take em all.

X2 my male Is only interested in 1 lady.
I had another mature female and would not get her. As soon as I sold her she got knocked up.

I moved my male down to a buddies to see if he'd be unloyal.... lol

I had my big male in with 3 ladies. ALL had mating marks, bite wounds, missing chunks of disk, white tipped tails. Male had all the abrasions around speracles..... Now that the dust is settling, only 1 is preggo.

Have always heard of there being a possibility that they pair up. The longer I keep rays the more I believe it.

That would change a setup a lot if you're trying to breed rays.

Does the dominanat male get first pic of the ladies and then the next male down gets one or does a non dominant male ever even get to breed with the ladies while the dominant one is present in the tank.

Would really suck if you had to pair them all off. Wait a few months then move all the males to the next tank over, repeat.
