keep, i have heard they get larger then your post states.... at least 36" ..... but once again i have never seen one that big

I have two that are about 26- 27". A male and female, I have had them since they where about 5" that was 3 + years ago. Eat anything I give them...They grow at the same rate..

i saw Darin's flower that ray was amazing to see in person. i have thought about getting some 100 times. aw some ray just don't know if i would be willing to go through the acclamation period. if i remember he lost that ray do to his car breaking down and not getting ray into pond quick enough or something like that.
IME with flowers (2 pair), I've found my males to be bigger eaters than the females and more aggressive at feeding time, so they have grown quicker. Largest male is only about 14", smaller about 10", with the females at about 12-13" and 11-12".
