Ok, so I found a few pics of Red Dragon FH that look just like the one I picked up last week, (not a King Kamfa) as I was told, since the fish is not what I was told it was, I was wondering what the chance was that my fish will be fertile, The guy I bought it from said that all of his males are fertile(same types as the on I got) I thought it was really hard to get a fertlie male, Is that just certain typer or what, Help please.

red eyes are usually a good indicator of a fertile male.

x2.
kamfas, king kamfas, jin kangs, and most things with parrot in them are generally infertile. your little guy should be good.

honestly is he said all his males are fertile i think hes lying, hes got a good chance of being fertile, but there's no guarantee

Fertile males aren't neccasarily "hard" to get but yes you can have infertile males, some strains have more often infertile than other strains and white eyes are more often infertile.

Really the only way to know is to try him out later when he's larger.

Most JK's have red eyes and are fertile.

Have to say IMO just about any FH can be fertile, even white eyed kamfas. It all depends on the fish. I know several people who have successfully bred white eye kamfas. The catch is waiting for the fish to mature. Male FH usually mature very slowly. Females can spawn as little as 3", however some males take over 2 years to reach sexual maturity. Also one thing I have noticed is that 80% of all FH from overseas are infertile. My theory of this is that foreign breeders add a chemical solution to the water which causes infertility. The reason for this is simple. To protect their trade. If you think about it all there income comes from people spending ridiculous amounts of money to import fish from their farms. If they sold fertile males everyone would breed them and they would lose all their business. Thats my theory anyway, however I will attest that all male FH reach sexual maturity at different ages/sizes. The only real way to tell is trial and error and to just wait and see. I had a large 8" male ZZMalau that I tried breeding about 5 times with several diff. females. Nothing happened and I assumed he was infertile. About 6mo. later I tried again and BAM. I now have some wicked ZZmalau fry. Good Luck Bro!:nilly:

LMAO. Sorry but your theory sucks... I know lots of people who import lots of FH and have great success with fertility. I think you pulled this fact from your poop shoot. 80%... Really? I think not... Everything aside from this odd theory I agree with.
