Male Motoro "attacking" female.

I recently got 2 Motoro's and I have a male and female. The male is a little over 6 inches on the disc, and the female is about 5 inches on the disc. Last night, it looked like my male was trying to bite my female. I saw no blood, I see no bite marks, but it definitely looks like hes "attacking" her. Any ideas? Is this normal, is it part of courting procedures? Does this mean my male is developing aggression towards the female and will need to be separated? These rays have been together for a while, so its not a new relationship between the two. I apologize if I am asking dumb questions, Im just a n00b and dont want dead babies.

On a side note, thinking of naming my male "Ray Liotta"

first off, im sure you are talking about someone else's rays since you live in cali, which rays are illegal in cali.
So what you need to tell your friend is that it is normal ... the male is probably just looking for food, rays do not breed until around the 10" mark

No they are mine, I dont care if they are illegal. All the cool animals are illegal in cali. I has a sugar glider too!

I thought he was hungry too, so I threw in some more shrimp, the 2 of them normally finish off one jumbo shrimp, and he was completely uninterested in the actual food. I dont think it was a hunger thing, but if its normal, and I dont see damage to my female, I suppose it should be fine. It just sort of freaked me out to see it happen.
