Thats a good question. Out of the four I had in the beginning I am sure two of them were females. They were much smaller than the males with a more intense yellow color even though the color patterns of the male and female is very similar. The heads on my females were more compact than the males. They also had much darker blue on their dorsal and anal fins than my one male. Both males and females got long fin extensions on their anal and dorsal fins so I do not think that is a reliable way to tell the sexs apart. With this being said I still often have my doubts that one of my "males" may actually be a large female because its color pattern is so different than the male in this video.Venting in the end may be the only reliable way to sex this species.
