i currently have 2 endlis at around 8-9inchs... they have been together for around 3 months and get along really well...

until today, when i noticed the male nipping at the female...it doesnt look to be overly aggressive or full on... but im just wondering what this would indicate?

also, they usually sit on top of each other and next to each other etc etc... but dont seem to be doing that now...

lovers tiff?? LoL....

cheers,
e.

It could indicate a cpl things
A)he's claiming some territory and doesn't want to share
B)He could be practising bichir foreplay(still to young to mate)

hey beblondie,

thx for the reply...

about 20 mins after writing that post, i noticed the females fins quite badly tattered with the male showing no signs of easing up...

so i have seperated them for now...:(

do u think i will be able to get them back together again soon?

cheers,
e.;)

Let her fins heal first then reintroduce-Anne

Okay, well... the female healed up nicely so i re-introduced them into a larger bare bottom tank (5x2x2) so that they wouldnt fight over territory...

To my amazement the female who was once the smaller of the two is now larger! hehe, because she didnt have to contest for food...and also ate one of my blue acara's...

anyways, to cut a long story short, she is now hammering the male in the way that he had done to her previously??? OMG.... will it ever end??

-If i introduce more poly species will the fighting reduce or increase?

-How often do your polys fight?

-In the pics it always seems that everyones polys get along gr8....true?

What do you guys suggest?

cheers,
e.:(

If you are certain it is a female then they may be playing Bichir version of footsie's.

One way to determine a male from a female is the male has a typically wider anal fin.

If you are going to breed them you want a planted area for the female to find a place to lay the egg's and you will want to remove them afterwards so they don't eat the egg's.

(...besides that - egg with no biscuits? :screwy: )
mm ... breakfast time
