It's a female, for a number of reasons. First the dorsal and anal fins are quite short and rounded. Also the orange banding is narrow. The chin area of the female is a smudgy blue rather than the blue vermiculated pattern of the male's cheeks and chin. Also, on either side of the central spot, there are two faint, light colored vertical bars .... only females possess these. As well, the female's flanks are less spangled and darker than the male, with no definite horizontal lines of blue scales. Here's a pic of one of my pairs.
