Male or Female JD?

Yea same here, my JD looked really washed out, now with the darker substrate he looks awesome.

I have pretty much standard gravel, few colours stones mixed up together but mostly a pale almost white stone, i was thinkin of mixin in some dark and lighter blue stones to darken to gravel up a bit, do you think this will work ok???
