Male or Female midas??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats somewhat of a bummer. I was under the impression that I had a male. Even named him king but I guess that will have to change to something girly. Does anyone have better pics of a male and female so I can see the difference? Thanks for all the help.

Here is my male. What I meant was, some midas' are flat out easy to sex without venting. Venting IS the only sure way. There is a chance, that the blurriness of the pic is making me see a vent that looks like Oo, as apposed to oo...Oo is female, oo is male.

I was informed that males got the hump on their head but it appears you guys are more knowledgeable then who told me. I appreciate all the help. I wanna find some pics of the vents of the male and female so others can use them as referance. Also I cant spell so forgive me for that.

Use the search feature..I have made at least half a dozen vent threads, and there must be hundreds here. Type "venting freshwater fish" in a google search, there are many pages on the net with the poster style comparison of many different types of fish.

Thanks for your help. Do they need to reach a certain size till you can sex them? I have another small one but that one is only like 3 inches.

FEmales have the pointed trailers also. The vented pics look female.
