You will have to wait until it gets bigger, 3" Festae fool their owners quite often. It def has both characteristics right now. As a pure guess, I'd say male....but it could prove me wrong later on.

Jason, I'm curious where the spangling was on yours that went away. Are we talking body spangles or on the dorsal fin, tail and anal fin?

I know she had blue spangles on the body and I think also in the finnage but can't say for sure. That was several years ago.

Oh ok, years ago I guess I wouldn't remember something like that either. The reason I guessed male was because of the spangling throughout the dorsal fin. It even has spotting on the tail which is uncharacteristic of females and the little strip of spangles on the edge of the anal fin closest to the tail. If those go away, I will have learned something new again. I'd like to see this Festae in about six months.

thanks for all the coments guys. i cant wait to find out for sure.

I would say male but its still too early to tell. UNLESS U VENT

Yeah, the only reason it sticks out at all was because I distinctly remember thinking that it was going to turn out male due to the spangling but then it just gradually started going away. :)
