how do u tell if an arowana is a male or female? I have 2 silvers ones 5" ones 6" and i want to know if they are female male or what..

Takes a trained eye. You have to compare the two side by side generally, and watch them for at least a few months. The males grow faster than the females, and the anal fin is longer in the male, often it is the red band at the bottom of the anal fin that is noticably longer. The males have a deeper mouth when you look straight down the throat. The mouth also is at a steeper angle. When full grown the females are also thicker.
Thank you very much. Mine are still juevs so i thought if i had a female and male than they would grow up together and possibly pair off and be happy together rather than having 2 females or 2 males.

They barley fight as of right now, but when they do it just looks like he snaps at him not causing damage that i can see.. But they will only be in the tank for a couple mroe days than the smaller one is going into a 75gallon with archer fish
You could keep them together and watch their temperment towards each other. You never know you might get lucky and have 2 that get along. As to pairing off, if you bought them from the same store, breeding would not be advisable as you would likely end up inbreeding them.
Nope not from the same store. the stores were 1 hour away from eachouther so i doubt they are family
