can't tell them apart when they are young. you'll need to wait till they are mature enuff which takes years. even experts have problems telling them apart.

Well that sucks. if i had 6 400 gallon tanks i would go ahead and buy 4 more arowanas and toss them in the tank to see if any pair up, and leave the paired together while seperatin the outher ones. but i dont have that many tanks.
