Male or Female?

It could be a number of reasons. Genetics (something didn't go right), aggression (if there is competition with food they can be a bit cranky/ it got bitten off), Maybe there was just a cruel last owner (not judging just putting ideas) BUt no matter what he is in the right hands so all is well
 
Yeah the previous owner had her in a 75 gallon with a 14" tiger shovel nose cat and a 10" lima catfish. I ended up getting all 3 fish and they are now in separate larger tanks

so i go feed the fish in the morning before work and my tank that the bichir is in is right by a sink... so anyways i was feeding that tank and i hear something flopping in the sink and its this bichir! idk how long it was in there but i hurried up and put em back into the tank! i guess he jumped from the corner of the tank there is a tiny opening that my canister filter hose goes into the tank. i put a rock over the small hole and i hope the bichir dosent jump again. i hope he/she is alright i cant wait for my lunch break so i can go check to make sure!
