Mama ate the wrigglers

My fish bred again, this was the best spawn yet, at least 1000 eggs and all were fertilized, I treated the tank as soon as they finished laying, fertilizing the eggs, they hatched, I could'nt wait to see the cloud of fry when they became free swimming, then the second day after they hatched the mother ate every one. Why did she do this, the previous spawns I let the fry in with the mother until they were .5" and she never ate any. please help!

my convicts raised about 100 of their first spawn to .5"
then the last 2 spawns they have eaten em within 5 days of hatching
