Mama ate the wrigglers

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Next time they breed, take out the eggs after they are fertilized but before they start hatching and put them in their own tank.....

Some females/males are just egg/wiggler eaters by nature. It's the best to just seperate the eggs from parents after first few hours they are done laying/fertilzing.

Hope this helps for your future success.

Thank for all of the advice from everyone, I really don't want to take the eggs out, the last 2 spawns the freeswimming fry would swim across the tank through the divider, and the male protected them with just as much care as the mother, they are both very good parents, I think I may have just been bothering them too much, also their tank is in the hallway, so me my wife and my 2 kids pass by constantly, I am going to put a blanket over the tank next time and see if that helps, if they get eaten again then I will remove the eggs from then on.
