THat story is hyped up B.S. !!!!! Volitan Lion's do hurt real bad when you get stung but they do not have a Venom that will kill. There has NEVER been a fatality from a lion fish sting.
There are other "scorpion fish" that can kill such as the stone fish found in Austrialia but not the commonly kept lion fish.
THe other thing that is B.S. is Volitans do not swim up to things and "sting" them. What is venomous is the Dorsil spines, they are like needles. What a Lion does is lowers it's head and puts up all it's spines so if something attacks it, they will get stung. They can't swim "dorsil fins first". Lions use this as a defence but not to attack others.
I've kept and housed litterally 100's of lion fish. The few times I have been stung were flukes or carelessness on my part but never from a lion intentionally putting effort into attacking me, they just don't do that.
Makes for a good story I guess but this guy's FOS. THese are the kinds of exagerated stories that threaten our hobby too. Next thing you know, some one will be trying to illegal venomous fish because of stories like this. We don't need the bad press...
