Managuese cichlids breeding so soon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The big guy is now almost 6", the female was killed.:( I used that egg crate divider and cut out a a few holes for her to escape but I guess she didn't want to escape back to the other side...

She probably ate their frys, I didn't bother removing them.

I have a Managuense thats about 1.5 inches and I am already 100% sure its a male,I hope to find him a gal someday but that probably wont happen if it means they will have to go in their own tank together.....:(

anyway congrats on your breeding!!

I think the reason she survived the first breeding was that I had 3 tinfoils in there too to distract the male. Dither fish really helps keep the aggression toward the female tolerable.

.....I've been raising fish since I was about 14 so it's been almost 8 years or so of raising fish................Can someone tell me if those are eggs on the PVC pipes?

That disclaimer of 8 years of experience and you can't tell if those are eggs?

Actually this is the first time I was interested in breeding and this was purely accidentally since I didn't even think they will breed. Back then I kept singles of fishes, I know they were eggs but just wanted to make sure if they were actually fertile. Plus now I can afford large tanks but need to be able to convince the woman to let me buy it...
