mandarin fish

They need a very established tank to survive since they live off of copopods that naturally multiply in the reef tank. You sometimes can suppliment their diet with freshly hatched baby brine shrimp. They are not easy to keep! :grinno:

Some will eat frozen foods. Ask your LFS if it has any feeding on frozen, then ask to see it eat.

I have had my mandrin for about 2 1/2 years with no problem in an established 125 g tank. Although a friend of mine has 3 in a cycled 20 g that he is constantly hatching brine shrimp for. He has had them for about 3 months now. They are interesting fish.

They are very interesting fish, and very colorful. I have a friend that has never had success keeping one in a 240 gal full blown reef, it has been established for about 9 years, it just really depends on the fish and it's willingness to accept live foods. I do believe the smaller the tank, the easier it is to see it getting enough food. The bigger the tank the less likely you are to even see it.
