I was at my LFS and I saw this amazing fish. I swear it was a Jag about 12" but the guy told me it is a Mangenes Cichlid native to South America and sometimes been carried by birds and such to Africa and thrive there as well. I thaught it sounds like BS to me but I wanted some professional advice. Does anyone know what im talking about and do they have any info or links on this fish. He mentioned that there are different vairations in the spelling of Mangenes. I have looked every where and had no luck. It definately resembled a jag and he said they often get mistaken for Jags. Thanks guys!

it is spelled managuensa, and it is a jaguar cichlid. cichlasoma managuensa is it's latin name. i have one they are really cool fish, very aggressive.

I believe they wanted $20 -$40 I cant remember for sure. I loved it. I was looking at him and it was staring right back at me really cool colors. Not to mention that it followed me everywhere I went. I gotta have on BAD. Its gills were all flared out with some gnarly lookin teeth. My G/f asked me to put my hand in the tank. I said Fu*k You, stick your nipple in there! Really a bad ass fish! How big of a tank do they need? If I had the money and a tank I would have bought it for sure. I almost want to kick my 2 oscars out of the 150g and get a couple of jags but I love my O's.

i figured that just thought it was funny.
BTW my jag is still hunger striking, he looks ok but it has been five weeks now and he has only eaten twice. he's stubborn, he ate 2 small convicts the other day but i don't have any more yet, and i broke down once and gave him some stinkin superworms :swear: picky fish
