i find it funny people have one or two that they paid for. come down here and ill net you dozens of each throw, their all over the place. just convert to fresh and there you go.
p.s. they taste great grilled

You can catch mangrove jack in Florida?????

There are two different mangrove jacks/snappers, the one from Indo-West Pacific is the Lutjanus argentimaculatus and it gets to 60"(rarely), the one from around Florida and the Western Atlantic is the Lutjanus Griseus that gets to 36", both are aggressive feeders and a bit territorial, here are pics from fishbase, the firt is the L. argentimaculatus

Jacks can be vicious-bought a 10 inch one home in a bucket once and every time someone put their hand close to the bucket, he'll come up and tried to bite them!

It went on to kill a giant gouramy and leichardhi-both much bigger than him.

The bigger ones had impressive colours and more impressive denture. Definitely not a community fish once a bit bigger.

mangrove snappers taste so good. i guess it would be kool to have one as a pet though.

I dont live in Florida but have a boat there and fish there all the time. Magrove snapper are practically the bluegill of the gulf, easy to catch and taste great!
