Hey All

Rehoused the Mangrove Jack, was a pain to catch he swam right threw one net and out the other side had to use a fishing net then his top fin cut another net ! anyways his In his new house now and happy, will soon turn more red and his scales will grow back!

His around 60-65CM large and a good 2Kg if not more, I will try to get more pictures when he clams down!

Awesome fish mate. I had a mangrove jack for about a year he got to 30cm from 5cm but died all of a sudden got water tested but showed nothing I think it had something to do with water hardness which is some thing they didn't test for. What do you feed it and how do you keep your water healthy
Cheers
Bob

hey bob sorry for getting back so late!! lol yeah I had a little one die the same I think some of them just need a bit of salt in there water and some can handle fresh.

I feed the big guy 2-4 banana prawns a day whole just remove the head and legs and shell, he grew up with oscars so behaves like one is and is always begging for more food which is not very fun at times lol.

Water I just keep good filtration going I use an FX5 just for him but now he is on a sump system in 4x2x2 his tank has issues and the other tanks sump cracked so yeah he seems alright in there. I find adding plants also helps a lot being native fish they wont eat the plants or throw them around so its safe and weekly water changes also ( I top up every 2 days but weekly will work just fine)

very nice... been looking for one in melb for a few months... doesnt seem to be any around this past season :(
