Another Aussie native

Yes they are commonly kept in fresh water here in Oz with no problems, never kept one myself but know a few people who keep them and think they are great aquarium fish. Post some piccies! ;)

Honestly, I tried yesterday, but kept moving to fast for me to get a decent shot.

I will try again tonite.

I love natives!

turn off the lights for an hour or two and then turn them on. the fish should be in a semi-sleep state so you should get a good shot of it.

Alright, I finally got a half decent shot of the little guy. I tried to get a side profile but he could'nt stop looking at me.

Let me know what you think, he's still a baby :D

I've actually uploaded the images into my gallery. However, i did try to post them in this repy but it says the files are too large. So have a look see in my gallery OR let me know how to make the files a little smaller.

What do they like to eat? I got him on shrimp pellets at the moment

They will eat pellets and any thing small enough, fish, soft inverts like shrimp and worms, even small crabs.

Nice little MJ :)

They are going for pretty cheap atm.

I have to agree with Wes regarding their intelligence. The one I had was hands down the smartest fish I have ever had. I once spent well over and hour removing mine from a 400 gallon tank where he was beating the crap out of all the other fish. I would say this may be a fish that could easily go toe to toe with a mean Jardini and not back down.

I love Mangrove Jacks, one of the tougest fish! Excellent Fighters too!
They may be another fish i'll add to my Jardini tank lol, slipped my mind the first time i thought about tank mates!
Good find!!! Im excited for you lol
How much was the little critter? where i am, a 6" specimen would g for $140!!!
And theyre native to Aus too! (i dont like the prices down here lol)

Theyre going for $55 at LFS near me.

Yea, he seems pretty at home - never stops moving and extremely inquisitive -

I got mine for about $80. It seems I got ripped off! :WHOA:

$55, thats pretty cheap

Most of the ones i've found in Sydney are around $80-$90

Nonetheless, great, great fish. I hope he grows quick!
