the venom is not life threatening and they are rear fanged so they dont normally deliver venom in every bite so they are considered not harmful to humans.

Thats from a Mangrove bite,the guy described the most intense pain.Ok,so their not Mambas,but still deserve a bit of respect,rear-fanged or not.
 
Mangrove bites can swell up pretty bad.
And some people have allergic reactions.
Just handle it like you would any other hot snake and you should be fine.

Indeed. The venom still has a three finger toxin and other than the obvious symptoms above you will more than likely end up with stuff like a bad headache. It's certainly something you'd want to try and prevent from happening to you.
Of course it could trigger anaphylaxis which does include the remote possibility of... you know you dieing. You're right though, lot of people have gotten them now they are off the DWA.
