I have hand one for almost 2 years now. He has grown a little slow, he was about 7" when I got him and he is now 10" and mature. I would compare behavior to a motoro. Not sure if he really is a mantilla so I will call him a mantilla type.
Thank you. Nice looking ray. So not to picky at eating at semi active?
I may at look at getting a pair of these because of size & size of the tank they will be going in. (72x36 foot print)
Thank you!
I think I will be looking for a quality pair of these. I want to be able to keep them in the tank for a good while & try to breed them also.
I will have a school of about 15 different types silver dollars. May add a pastiticus(parrot), chocolate cichlid?
Okay next ? wild or tank raised?
I would like to have one wild & one tank raise for better blood line.
Most call it a Aparicio, not sure if it has a scientific name but only info you can find on them says they are a motoro variant and the spots turn black and smeer with age. He came in mature at 7" and already had the black markings. I have had him for about 2 years as well.
I do not know anyone or have I heard of anyone that has breed mantilla type rays. I know a lot of the hybrids look like them and I have heard of them being crossed with marble motoros but do not know of any pure mantilla pups. Mine and Keepin's are both wild caught so either they are a species all their own or they are natural hybrids.
My old girl "Darkness" was a captive bred from an aquarium here in the states. She now resides with "Clearwaterguy".
She's a Henlei/Motoro crossed back with a Motoro.
My experience with her was she seemed much more aggressive then my Marbles (reason for selling)
IF you're looking to buy one contact ShawnL. The nicest one I've seen in the states currently resides with him and IS for sale. Believe it's even a female.
