update, i havent put the jar in yet....cause i cant get a crab from the tank >.<
can i use a glass instead of a jar?
i found a clearish tube filled with stuff, i think its a intestine from the first clownfish.....someone's been eating fish behind my back.
now i see something under the rock, which im going to investigate soon.
i really don't think theres a mantis shrimp...but would emerald crabs kill small fish?

Emerald crabs are opportunist like any other crab, and there have been a few accounts by other aquarist of eating fish, but chances are the fish was already dead when the mithrax got to it.
Mithrax are algae eaters, but wont pass up something meaty if you put it in front of them. Still, I dont think they would take out two fish, especially maroon clowns.

+1 90% of the time they are vegetarians...

Animals will always eat what is most readily available to them, and therefore easiest to get. Your living, healthy fish do not meet that standard.

Well, its either a pistol shrimp or a mantis. Out of those two, the only capable of doing what you describe, is a mantis. Whats really curious about all this, is that you still have crabs in your tank. Have you noticed a significant drop in emerald or hermit crab population?
