hey, first time using this site, i have a bunch of bigger cichlids in a tank and i need help making the aquascape right so that all of the fish are happy. some problems include some fish dont seem to be getting or eating food from more aggresive eaters. the big oscar and big flowerhorn are not having it with eachother and i know you can set the tank up so each fish has something to guard but not quite sure how so please let me know if you can help my tank. tank is giant they have plenty of room...
the fish i need help with are
12" tiger oscar
12" flowerhorn
9" flowerhorn
10" red tiger mota
8" yellowjacket
10" blackbelt
8" wild caught red terror female
10" frontosa

what are the dimensions of the tank?? quite a few bruisers in there! and frontosa don't belong with CA cichlids, they are African, and also like to be in groups.

what can i feed all of them at the same time. besids feeders and ghost shrimp.

tank is 6'x6'x3' built into house our Real estate company closed so im having fun with it. supposed to be saltwater but F that big fish are better

it may be as simple as getting rid of some fish if there is not enough room. at 6x6 though i think its okay, maybe u could add dithers?

you can:
set up lot of natural borders to break up line of sight
decrease temp to mid to lower 70s to decrease agro
use dividers
pull out more agro fish and let weaker fish establish homes first
turn off the light when placing agro fish in
add dithers or target fish silver dollars are good, or giant danios cheap

I have some of the most aggressive cichlids there are in one tank and I have few problems after implementing most of the ideas i posted above. My water is 72-74. Keep in mind you need clean water so your fish dont catch anything. stress from the temp change and other mean tank mates will lower immune systems and bring about diseases. Oh and you have flowerhorns, their koks will deflate due to the lower temp and lower water pressure in their head. Not dangerous, but not what most flowerhorn keepers want to hear.

GOOD ADVICE. ADD PLENTY OF STRUCTURE THAT ALLOWS EVERYONE A TERRITORY/ GO TO SPOT. I DO THIS IN A 225 AND SO FAR IT HAS WORKED WITH A PAIR JAGS,RTM,OSCAR, GRAMMODES, LOSELLI, GREEN TERROR, JD, CONS AND CUTTERI. ALSO IF THEY ARE RAISED TOGETHER AS JUVIES IT SEEMS TO HELP EASE AGGRESSION TOO. JUST MY $.02 ;)

Can you post a pic of the tank. Would love to see that setup. Thats a hell of a group you have there. GL.
