many faces of the dovii

What is the temp you keep your dovii at if he's shy? Aggression raises with temp, I keep mine at about 78-80 depending on how my ****ty thermostat is running. He tries to kill the cats outside the tank as well as anyone that walks by.

mine is at 80-82 and is kinda shy

my temp is just like yours. While mine isn't the most aggressive, he is however becoming very owner responsive. Ignores everybody but comes to the glass to say hi to only me.

I will say that with Dovii, you just have to have patience as they only get bigger and meaner as time goes on. I've had mine since he was around 3" and he's now a solid 15-16" after 2 years. I grew him out in a 300g with his girlfriend until just recently when I broke up the pair because I got tired of catching thousands of fry. I've always vary his diet and do weekly water changes, but since he bred SO often it may have slowed his growth. Here's a pic of a 8ft 300g tank filled with their last batch. As far as aggression, mine is not as aggressive as others I've seen. I've often wondered if it has to do with tank size? It seems that a lot of people grow out their Dovii in smaller tanks and then progressively move them to bigger tanks. I believe their boundaries grow with their size, so if they're in a larger tank and they're small, it may take longer for them to come out of their shell so to speak. Just my thoughts and I'll stop rambling now. Lol
