So I ended up getting two pieces but the big one is gonna have to be cut up anyways so I guess I really got 5 or 6 pieces.. I still need to remove the leaves on the big piece...
The bark is a great color but is very tannic and both the acidity and color leach into the water, not a bad thing for fish from peat bogs but a problem for others. If you cure it under strong lights or especially UV lights it turns a nice silvery grey after the bark is off. In small ammounts the dried bark can be added to tea to add a bitter bite that is supposed to be good for allergies and fevers.
