Marble convict gene

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's how it was explained to me as well. That you cross black and pink and just keep breeding them, I have bred a black and a pink, and noticed that the color varies between all pink and a plain black convict. I would be willing to try this as I have both black and pink cons and use a lot of the fry as food but I can keep some around to breed further.

The marbled gene is a mutation in pink cons that came from a lot of in breeding. Why bother trying to start one from scratch? Who knows how many generations it would take for it to pop up. Even then they'd only have a black splotch or two. You're better of buying some calico fry.

are marble cons sought or just wanted by oddball collectors?

I'd say they're more for oddball collectors. Maybe more people would be interested in them if there were heavily marbled. But then again most people aren't too interested in cons anyways.

Thanks, I had never seen one before this thread.

Marble is one of the convicts that I wish we're more common in the trade.

Especially the way they breed youd think they'd be everywhere.

I've got 2 batches of calicos right now. One heavily marbled group and another that im hoping to breed together to get shortbody calicos.
