No, I have more of a Fat Freddie type nose as opposed to the freeweelin' Franklin or Phineus Freak schnozz!

I believe the comments was towards fishtician not you screaminleeman.

And yes your marble line gars are Florida gars. Your gars are nice and thick so I can see why they are eating you out of house and home. Good luck with them.

Yeah, it looks like a Florida to me...looked JUST LIKE MINE, when they were young;

Nice gars btw...

Here is what a Marble Gar looks like... see the difference? I know there are many differences, but to me the most distinguishable is the fact you cant see the teeth on the Marble Gars. The mouth is smooth...

As far as overfeeding, if you think its a concern, you can just target feed them with sticks. Put a piece of shrimp or tilapia on a BBQ stick...and put em right in the face. If the fatso gar tries to eat it, you can just brush him aside and target the other ones.

Best of luck!

I think the pike cichlid/gar combo can work. I've got a ~12" venezuelan pike male in with my 9 gars (Florida, Spotted, and Shortnose!) and they get along fine. I've also had a red bay snook, which was ~ok~, and currently have an indo dat, friedrichsthalli, festae, bluegill, channel cat (hopefully going into the pond or someone elses tank soon), and climbing perch. The current stock list is getting along pretty well, except for the channel cat, which hogs a lot of the food if I don't spread it out.

There are certain cichlids that I think can peacefully live with gar. It probably depends on species, and to a certain degree, individuals. And especially the size of the tank.

I keep my Florida Gar with a Johanna Pike, no problem. They've never even acknowledged the others existence.

Btw the fish in the picture is a spotted needle fish not a gar. Just saying:grinno:

lol Speaking from experience, TDF fish im assuming you bought them from aqua bid and a while ago I also bought some Marble line gar. Yes they are Floridia's, my gar were voracious eaters in the beginning. They grow as fast as you feed them IME when they were a little smaller I kept minnows in there at all time and like you I ran out of quarantine very quickly and evenually had to salt dip a a batch. I find it Ironic that that not only did you buy the same amount of gar as me and from the same person under the same name, your grow out looks exactly like mine. Here is a pic of my gar a while ago. Keep feeding, its better for them to eat a little too much than it is to refuse to eat.
