Sounds like I just need to leave things right like they are then..... Except maybe clean out the shredded smelt OR do you think the mom did this on purpose to feed her lil ones? Or do I need to keep it super clean for a couple days then try feeding?

Hey Alan, Congrats!! Glad she finally popped. I have always pulled my pups after a day or so and put them in one of my 40 breeder tanks. They will have a better chance eating. It does take about three days before they will eat. I have had luck with cut- up earthworms (real small) but sometimes the runts in the litter won't eat them for a while. I would get some blackworms just in case. Salt in that tank doesn't hurt either. I get my blackworms from blkworms@aol.com, Dan is great, I've never had a problem. Good luck. Jim

deff get the shredded smelt out!

keep lights off leave them alone for a while b4 moving the pups. my pups are usually born at night, so in the morn i transfer them. when i saw a litter born in the middle of the day, i transfered them right away and they took a long time to get them stable.

Thank you Jim and Trev for the advise.... Really helpfull right now. I feel like I used to on Christmas.... LOL Kinda freakin out a bit.

Smelt's out.

They all seem active and are showing some promising signs pattern wise, look like they will all have at least 3 rows around the perimeter. One with huge spots. Gonna be hard to let them go that's for sure......

Man what a day..... I found the pups less than an hour after having to poke, prod, and jab at my Dragon Moray with a piece of PVC untill he spit out one of the Whitemouth's it's housed with. 12in Whitemouth and only 4 inches was sticking out of the Dragons mouth.... Luckily it spit the eel out and the eel swam off. Had to repeat procedure again after latching onto the Yellowmouth, had it's entire head minus the lower jaw in it's mouth.

After that I thought "What else could possibly happen today?" Little did I know........

I'm gonna just leave everything be for today.... Have to go find some autos to fix so I can score some blackworms....LOL Unfortunately these guys came at a HORRIBLE time financially.......

WhooHoo! Congrats Alan, I know Pat also starts all his pups on chopped earthworms.
Hope there is a male in there.;);)
Can't wait for the new daddy feeling.

CONGRATS!!!!

Congratulations!!! hope the pups do well, bloodworm is always a good starter, the skins of night crawlers can sometimes be a little tough for the first couple of weeks. My pups usually take up to a week to start feeding, there stomachs still have enough yolk to sustain them for that period, its normal for them to be fairly inactive for a couple of days also.

sweet....hope the rest make it. might have to see if i have some cash laying around.

awesome, i had some pups not eat for 7-10 days. They are probably fat. Cut night crawlers are the way to go! I also agree, it is weird you lost any. Wonder if she did it?

worthless without
picts :)
