Unless its getting infected, dont remove it, save your fish some stress and leave yourself out of harm's way. Not a fun time having a venomous barb go through your hand. It's used to prevent a ray from poking a hole in the plastic bag during shipping.

Dovi go to wallmart and pick upnight crawlers and red worms {trout worms or panfish worms} He will eat them right away.He doesnt have any barb gaurd on him,so dont worry about pulling anything of his stinger.
Like i said you need to feed him what he will eat first before even bothering with trying to get him to eat something he's never eaten.

Yes, I will get some pics soon, but now he is eating like a champ. actually ate a few minnows i used to feed the other fish. He is rather aggressive also. But you guys were right he loved the night crawlers.
