Well, it all started with two small kitties http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=175227

they have grown and were then moved to help cycle one big aquarium (8 footer) - they have grown well over foot by the time the cycling of the aquarium was completed. Due to their incompatibility with the newly arrived aros they had to be moved again. ... <sigh> ... sadly due to lack of available aquarium they had to be moved to outdoor set-up with real BIG boyz and no heaters

... suddenly the over foot long cats found themselves surrounded by gars, paimas and RTC ... i dumped lots of frogs before hand to try to placate the big fishes.

The next morning i could only find one marble pim ... decision was made (after lamenting why i have not done this before) to move the lone pim into the sump of the outdoor set-up.

The next morning i found a lone pim inside the main aquarium ... i wonder if it is the same pim escaped from sump back into the "jungle" or i really missed the other presumed eaten pim. There is no way it could have squeezed through the connecting pipe and yet i find it very hard to imagine marble pim jumping out of the sump back into the main set-up (must have been very lucky to jump in the correct direction)....

I am yet to take apart the sump to see if there is a second pim hiding in it - stay tuned

PS: the particularly murderous RTC (the one with three whiskers) looked particularly fat (and satisfied?) on the day of dissappearance (frogs were gone too) though not as fat as he should be if he eat the pim and frogs ...

I was exactly wondering what you wpould make with those lovely Pim's when I was seing your new aro thread...

I would keep those pims!!!! Keep them safe, Man!

Hope you still have both pim's. So there is one you put in the sump already, and the one in the tank might have been hiding before???

That's what i am hoping. i really don't think that the one i put in the sump jumped back in ... odds are very unlikely of that happening. I could have missed one pim when i saw only one ... they blend with the algae covered stonework very well ... when people see the remaining pim hanging off the stone wall, they say it is a pleco until they see super long whiskers :D

I will update once i take the sump apart

awesome pics of ure RTCS! they look fat as hell LOL

Fat RTC indeed. Sadly, all outdoor fishes are not very happy at the moment due to cooler weather. They still eat though.

The good news is that i got a chlorine test kit so now i just release water and then fill in the tap water (with occassional test).

They were always destined for the outdoor set-up. I woulda prefered to keep them in the six footer for longer - but it is still unset-up (the old silver aro tank) ... it has been moved and received new woodwork but no water nor cycling yet. So i took the chance with outdoor monsters ... the lone pim in the set-up is still there. will confirm after sump is taken apart

Next year, i will be doing a pond for paimas anyhow. So the current outdoor set-up will be inherited by pims and silver aros. RTCs are going with gars and paimas into a pond

That's what i am hoping too :( :D

Did a new year clean-up of the outdoor set-up... several screw-ups along the way - like forgeting to close the valve between the sump and the set-up ... water distrurbed and everything ...<sigh> ... but i did finish cleaning the sump (not the main set-up though).

No marble pim the sump.

Option 1: he is hiding in with the bio balls section which i did not check ... too many bio balls to move
Option 2: he really did jump from the sump back into the main set-up ... going by water flow sound on the other side???

In any case, the remaining pim is doing well and fighting for food with big boyz ... someone nipped one of his whiskers ... but other than that he looks fine. Advantage to him ... crickets are accepted by paimas only. RTC don't touch those and only small gar eats those

Check out the MONSTER sump !!!
