After introducing a 4" bright pink Marbled Convict and pair of 3-4" Honduran Red Points to my 180gal a month ago, the Convict has taken control of the female Red Point. A week or so ago, after an extensive mating ritual, they dug a hole in the substrate, and laid upwards of 300 eggs.
As of yesterday, the fry have finished off their yolk sacs and are now freely swimming in their designated corner of the tank. I don't have a spare enclosure for them, so I'm going to try my luck with them remaining in the 180gal. As far as I can tell, the 2mm-ish long fry have no irregularities.
After some thorough research online, I've yet to find any depiction on what they may look like within the month, let alone as juvy/adults. I've seen Convict x Red Point's before, and they're quite an interesting fish. Most of what I've scene appear as generic convicts, but eventually obtain extremely bright blue/red coloring throughout their back end and fins. I'd love to see a picture of what mine may turn out like if anyone has one.
Thanks in advance,
-Chris
Note: for those interested, I have no idea what I'll be doing with them once they've reached the 3/4"+ mark. If neither of my LFS will buy them off me, I'll likely end up rehoming them via Craigslist/Aquabid. If anyone would be interested in them, I'm located in mid Michigan (25 min drive from Lansing), and could sell them locally, or ship via UPS overnight air.
