Marbled Crayfish Babies & Berried Momma Crayfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^ i think they max out at around 3" if i remember correctly... since my largest is about that size...

I wouldnt worry... Keep the water clean and make sure they are well fed and they will do their thing eventually...

I had a similar problem where for about 2 months i didnt see any berries females and then all of a sudden about 8-10 berried up

I've been feeding mostly pellets. What else do they like to eat?

Mine basically get fed pellets and the odd bit of leftover seafood from my puffer... Such as mussels & prawns

What is their max size??

I have one that is near 4.5" now, and the female cray shown in the picture with the baby crays is 4". While most of the adults get around 3", in my opinion I would say that marbled crays max size is easily 5". Here is a picture of one of the females from 5-6 months ago. I started with (8) 1" babies growing out in a 75g aquarium.

beautiful! i didnt know you could get marbled ones! GL

Thank you! :)

I've had 2 marbles crays for about a month and they have not reproduced yet. Any tips?

Do 10% water changes once a week. (this imitates rainfall, making them increase breeding behavior). This trick also works when breeding plecos.

I have their tank filled with artifical aquarium plants. All the aquarium walls are covered, as well as part of the bottom with plants. I added a few terracota pots to provide some extra hiding places. ( you can even use breeding caves, pvc pipe, etc.).The tank is bare bottom too, so it makes it easier to clean up any uneaten food.

They are fed micro sinking pellets, and algae wafers.

I would say keep up with water changes, provide plenty of hiding places, and alternate foods every day. As long as the crayfish feel safe & comfortable, you should have a berried female within a week or so.
