Marbled Motoro Color

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You need to give it several more weeks even several more months before you see any changes in the ray. Plus the constant changing of sand in and out is not helping. You need to give it a lot more time to let the little thing settle in.

Cool thanks. Imm sticking with the light sand from now on. Looks more natural. I can see the marbling somwehere in there faintly. Will update when things get magical again lol

I use a dark charcoal grey almost black and my marbles are bright and vibrant. I believe lighting is a large part of the determining factor.

Lighting has not changed. The ray was in black tahitian moon sand when the change began and even my orb started to darken up on his underside. Once the sand was changed to a light color the marble over night got waaaaay lighter and the dark underside the orb and marbled had gotten faded away with the week.

Lighting does play a huge part. What Shadow was saying is that light may have more to do with it then you think. Halides on black sand may yield better results then florescent with light sand, meaning maybe lighting has more to do with it then the color of the sand.

Some of my Marbles change significantly from lights on to lights off. I can make them change by chasing them with a net and stressing them. Some say diet has a huge effect, some say water parameters, o2 content, the list goes on.....

Just a matter of finding what you like, but the changes that stay don't happen overnight.

Substrate was changed throughout this thread. Also I purchased a 6ft fixture from a user here which has blue LEDs. I went from a T5 fixture to these dual (yet single) bulbs. Both are 6500 (or 6700k) I forget which. Perhaps its a combination of both things but the sand was changed first and changes were aparent within a few days after using the light sand.

I hear you on the light thing but there were some dramatic changes seen both in base color and undersides of both of the rays while on dark substrate. Interesting either way. Who knows.....

Now who knows how to make my flower ray darken? Lol didn't change in black sand and is only mildly darker now in the white sand. Damn thing looks albino at times. Smh....

Now that I learned something about lighting, what kind of lighting are you using on ur dark substrate? I Went from T5 to those dual cylinder like bulbs. Not sure what they are or if they are the same light souce but they are both using 6700k bulbs. The old t5 had a actinic bulb in it as well and the new fixture has blue leds. Hmmm....
