More to come... let the discussion begin!

Awesome. I'm not too much into cats, but I have been drooling over these on snookn's list for the past few months. Very nice pickup. Looking forward to more pics and updates.

Thanks all! More pics on the way.

love to see in tank shots and shots of the dorsal and tail.looks good in the bag. we just need a proper ID or source :)

I have been trying to properly ID these fish. Came in a shipment from South America. The colors change depending on mood and can be grey with black spots to having a dark top and light bottom with faded spots. I have been trying to find out exactly what they are to no avail. The crossed species are coming out of Asia from what I can gather and there are not any known natural hybrids coming out of the America's. Let alone the fact that the species they are mutating/crossing would not normally happen in the wild.

On a side note. I do not think there will be a red tail giraffe cat (But do not bet against it)

Ask and ye shall receive:

thats the same cat i have (yours is lighter and overall better looking though :(). I got mine from a dirty jam packed LFS tank though, so it will take more time i think. If these are wild caught, then these are not hybrids like was said above. It is entirely possible that these are previously undescribed Pimelodidae cats. I do not know if they are collecting in a new area or what though. I would suggest a different varient of TSN but the snout does not really match up with them either though the body shape does resemble one. I do not think the tail resembles the TSN either.

does yours have smaller black spotting towards the top?

The body pattern fades out across the head. If you look closely you can see smaller, more faded dots. But I don't see any other pattern on the head.
