Like stated...put a heater controller on your heaters.
Best investment I have made yet in the numerous years of fish keeping.
Look up jehmco.com and get a heater controller w/ an additional recepticle adding so you can plug 2 heaters into it.
NO more worries of temp swings after that. Cant believe I didnt buy one years ago.

Great suggestion! I am sure when I get one I'll say the same thing, why didn't I get this years ago!
You can always plug a surge protector power strip into the device and run multiple heaters off of that. (As long as they are in the same tank)
