Margined madtom

Will they eat minnows? I have 4 Rosy Reds in a 20 long but don’t want them eaten.

Mine are with fish as small as 1.5 inch rainbow darters and a male guppy. As long as the Rosie's are guppy size I'd imagine they'd be okay.

Great to hear that! I had Rainbow Darters about 3yrs ago my favorite native specie. My central air unit quit working and started losing the darters. Finally got a new central air unit and may get the Madtom when the weather cools down in the fall.

Heres a shot of the biggest one I have. Almost 5 inches when I caught it so just about full grown.

Nice! I resemble a small version of the Bullhead another favorite of mine.

Very similar, but in comparison a similar sized bullhead that I have is a killing machine.

Can they do well in flow? Can they do well in completely still water?

All of my madtoms were seined from rocky riffles less than 6 inches deep. So current is good, just give them hiding spots. Tadpole madtoms are more still water oriented.
