Well guys and gals, jus thought I would let you all know I received a call from my Gunnery Sgt. today informing me that an early ship out date has been opened up. A guy got down to MEPS and was not able to ship so I am able to leave early on this Monday coming up. My original ship date was March 21st so this short notice comes with a price. I have to cut 13lbs of water weight which I have done before, but it def takes a toll on the body. For the Marines when going in you have to weigh a certain weight for your height no matter wat. Once in the Marine Corp you are taped and checked for your body fat, and males have to be 18% or under. My body fat % now is 12%, and I weigh 178. I have to get to 165 by sunday and when I weigh in at MEPS on Monday I cnt be one pound over that. For those that dont know I initially went Navy and earned a SEALS contract, but had some issues with how the NAVY works and I became alot more interested in the Marine Corps and I love how the whole brotherhood and comradery is enstilled in Marines. My M.O.S. is infantry, and I will be taking the PFT after that to go into selections to pursue a Special Forces career in Marsoc, which a buddy of mine jus made it through. Its a long and tough road but Im def proud to go and be a part ot the best and serve my country with pride. So I will be gone for a while, but after basic training, I will def post back up here and let everyone know how things turn out. Keep me in your prayers/thoughts, cuz I def have a long tough road ahead of me to reaching my goals.....THANKS TO ALL WHO TOOK THE TIME TO READ OR COMMENT.....SEMPER FI...........:headbang2

Thank you ermgravy.....I really appreciate it. I have been a member on here for a while and still to this day it amazes me at the fact as what threads get alot of attention or responses. Mind you im not looking for any attention or aknowledgement, I jus figured I might get a lil more acknowledgement since I am serving my country and have no problem doing it. Not looking for any type of sympathy or praise, I jus thought Americans would take pride in their companions who chose to put their life on the line for those who we dont even know.....jus to keep this country for wat it is.....I have seen alot of threads that receive alot of attention but its about nothing but nonsense....either way.....I will serve my country...and further more...Im doing this for me and my fam......NO REGRETS.....

meh ur a NC boy we look after our own... i might live in uk and have mixed roots but my dad served 25yrs in us airforce. two of my uncles served in nam n grandpa in ww2. on british side i have family who have served from great uncles who served in ww2 to a cousin currently deployed in afgan with British para's. i my self am pursuing a career in private security sector but work closely with government interests both uk and usa. mainly in a training compasity atm but im hoping to either go military or full pmc contractor within next year or so.

I completely understand the decisions and responsibility that anyone makes going into this sort of a career and its not a choice that is to be taken lightly and anyone who can make it fully deserves there nations support...

(sorry cant spell it 6.21am here i been up allnight..)

I feel y'all...I did 5 yrs in the Navy myself. Unless ur current/prior military or a military spouse, I don't think words can describe life in the military. Never fully settling down cuz of the constant moving around with new orders. Food sucks (tabasco sauce on everything)....the pay is just as bad. U can't just wake up one day and say u don't wanna do this no more cuz u signed up for "blank" years. Theres no calling in sick. Can't forget about deployments (yay)....been on two myself (9mo/6mo). Big ups to ya kid and good luck!! Thanks for serving....I'm sure there's quite a few people on this site that's a current or a vet so thank y'all too.:headbang2

I know what you mean zippo. I am now out on a medical discharge but I have still to feel settled down in my flat and I constantly have the feeling I am going to have to move, even though I never will unless I choose to.

Good luck sevendreamz, I hope you get through it in one piece.

Good luck to you and keep us posted when you can.

Congrats, good luck and God bless you. I served 6 years in the Army, Staff Sergeant 82nd Airborne "All the way". I now work with cadets in the Civil Air Patrol as squadron 1st Sergeant. I had some good friends in the Marine Corps stay safe and say low.
