MARINE CORP ANYONE......OORAH......

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
gl dude. thanks for serving our country. hope to see you soon.

Not sure what you mean by a SEALs contract. If you mean a chance to go to SEAL school, then you should have taken it! If you are into that kind of thing, that is... I'm not sure what part of "how the Navy works" that you disagreed with, but to each his own. The Marine Corps is unique unto itself, but ultimately a department of the Navy. I never wore a Budweiser, but I proudly wore an EGA for years.

Anyway, congrats on the choice, and you'll be fine. I made the same choice in '93 when I stepped onto those little yellow footprints at PI. I went in September and had black flag days, graduated in Dec when it was snowing. Crabs, sand fleas, crazy DIs, crazy recruits, you name it. Just know that everything is a game, and you just have to play along. When you're standing there on line, naked, and holding an M16 out straight by your pinky in the front site assembly, try not to laugh. It'll happen. The FMF was a much different place. Everyone was somewhat normal. My best advice to you - DO NOT GET MARRIED. I saw too many marriages dissolve violently before and after deployments. Lots of women want to marry a Marine, but want someone to keep that bed warm when he's away on deployment. Be careful.

Don't be one of the idiots who gets messed up before he ships out. A few people thought it would be a good idea to get high before MEPS, and ended up pissing hot at boot camp. You're soon to be part of the finest fighting force in the world. Good luck and welcome to the club.

USMC 93-97

and a few others I can't remember right now... :)

THANK YOU everyone who has posted or wished me well.....and Clay, wat I meant was I initially went Navy. I had to pass a PST in order to earn a contract to go to BUDS after Navy basic training. I earned that contract, but the Navy gave me the run around for about 9 months, so called trying to get a few waivers for a few misdemeanors I had on my record when I was younger. They were not truthful with me in wat they were doing, and ended up dragging me around and waisting my time. I ended up going to the Marine recruiters and explaining my situation. They sat me down, made calls to HQ and got my waivers immediately. And ever since then they have held their word to everything promised to me. I love and respect all branches of the armed forces, as we are all on the same side. I myself jus feel like I fit in the Marine Corps. And about the relationship thing I def agree wit you. I def will not get married anytime soon. As we speak, I am 100% single, no girlfriend, no kids, no nothing. I have no attachments or anything to hinder me on this difficult road im about to go down. Thank you as well for serving, and guys like you can teach guys like me alot. Thanks again....Semper Fi

Good luck in all of your endeavors! If you want it, it will happen. If your desire is to be a United States Marine, then go make it happen and we will all see you in 3 months as one of the newest members of this outstanding organization. Semper Fi.

Thank you Devildog, and thank you for your service as well....

There will be days you love it and days you'll wonder why the aitch-eee-double-hockeysticks you enlisted, but in the end hopefully you'll feel it was definitely worthwhile. I think most of us who have served do, I know I do. Good luck my young friend and soon to be brother in service!

I can completely understand your reason for leaving. But you know the saying, "Once a Marine, you're always one". Thank you for your service and and beyond being a Marine, you seem like an excellent father. Thank you.....Semper Fi
