Here is a little Marine coldwater Aquarium I stumbled across in Bellingham, WA.. Near the Canadian border. It was actually an open-air aquarium found down in the harbor, along the docks. They JUST had sent out the giant pacific octopus to the seattle aquarium, I was sad :( They had some other cool fish though, check it out! If I lived on the water, I would design a system to pump water from the ocean into my tanks, that is what these guys do! 24/7 water change with oceanwater. Keeping a coldwater marine native tank, would be VERY cool, IMO.

A giant sea bass.. about 20" maybe?

A giant sea bass, great open mouth shot with the anenomes.. Those anenomes were HUGE!

Some crazy monster looking fish, kind of looks like a goby. He just sat there, but I was very intrigued by this guy inparticular..

To put this pic into perspective, the pink starfish was about the size of a volleyball in the middle of it's body. These guys were all HUGE!!

A nasty lookin Urchin.. ouch ouch ouch!!

Playing around in the 'touch' pool.. Very fun, VERY COLD! Didn't have my hands in the water that long..

Check out this Baby Halibut!! He was only about 2 feet long, but what an interesting fish! You don't often see these in captivity.. so if you guys ever wondered what the 'ugly' fish that tastes so good looks like, here ya go!

This crab was mounting that other crab.. Woah! Rough neighborhood..

Some monster fish that I can't ID.. nothing special though.. Check out those 2 huge halibuts in the background!

And last, but not least.. these were some 'Pipefish' that were in the bay.. I don't know who feeds these guys everyday, because I was curious to what ALL The specimens at the exhibit ate..

Wish I could of got pics of the octopus! Whoever designed this little aquarium was definately an aquarium buff.. They had a very complex centrally plumbed system.. All the tanks were glass, and the smallest tank was 180g. The glass tanks had overflows plumbled on the BOTTOM of the tanks.. The tanks themselved looked really nice, the pools were very old and starting to chip away in some spots.

Enjoy the pics!!! You don't see many coldwater marine exhibits like this!

Hasta,

Miles

very nice animals
but i stick to f/w

nice work with the photos

Very nice fish!!

Very neat Miles... I'm pretty sure that the goby like fish is a Cabezon, and the fish in with the halibut is an opaleye... not too sure though. :)
