Marine Nano tanks w/o Skimmers

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do 10% weekly but it depends..

If your overstocked...obviously more depending on how much your overstocked by...

If you have a small tank (under 20 gallon) then i'd say 2 a week because there is no way you can keep decent water parameters..

If you keep Sea Horses....every day.

id say under 20 needs bi-weekly changes is a little harsh.....

i had a 2.5 gallon skimmerless non-photosynthetic pico reef (TONS OF FEEDING) and only did 1 25% change every 2 weeks or so. i think that too many people in this hobby try to keep their tanks sterile and all it does is make the entire system more temporary.....

just my opinion.

my 75 gals get water changes bi monthly (keeping one SPS dominated reef and one mixed reef)

my nanos (under 10 gals, over 5 gals) get water changes every week or so (unless i dont think they need it, sometimes i let it go two months even without one)

but my Pico tanks get pampered, especially sub gallon systems (bi weekly) but more to maintain calc/alk/mag etc. lvls for the SPS they house than for nutirent export.....

but to each their own

I wasted my money on my crap skimmer which isn't really working properly anyway.

4 fish, 40 snails, 5 hermits. One mantis shrimp.

Fish will go.
