Today I picked up a marineland 6x3x27" tall 300g tank. I do love this setup. I came w the black stand and canopy, glass lids, starphire front and side glass, in tank plumbing and two quiet one 9000s.

What I don't like is the fact that it has 4 holes all 1.25" I.D. The quiet ones are rated at 2000gph at 4' head and there's no way that running two 1.25" id drains will keep up w the flow and I'm not even sure if these drains will keep up w 2000gph. This is what I need some ideas on!

Quiet one 9000s are rated at 2040gph at 0 head, so your looking at maybe 1800-1900gph at your tank height.

A 1.25" hole will drain just under 1000gph with just gravity.

I think your best bet is to use both, and tee off both of them with a ball valve above the tee to return the excess water back into your sump, which would essentially double filter half of the water going through your sump.

Another option would be to maybe find another use for one of the pumps and just use one of them on this tank, because I don't think you want to drill that tank and I don't believe that you can restrict quiet one pumps.

Whatever you decide to do, post some pictures. My LFS has one of these tanks and they are beautiful.

creepyoldguy,

Welcome to the 300 gallon Marineland Deep Dimension club. Sorry I can't help you with the plumbing issues as I went with the Marineland Model 4 Sump and 2 Marineland Maxi-Jet 5500's.

Here's a photo of mine.

Am I reading the chart wrong? I was also thinking about buying an overflow box and having 4 drains total and running both pumps, or would that be dumb?

Grunting-- I bought this tank from a person who bought it new, and didn't have the money to set it up. It hasn't had water in it until I test filled it today. I paid $1500 for it all

Nice looking tank def leopard! I love the depth on these tanks and mine was way easier to move than my glasscages 240

Thanks. I love these tanks, too. We needed the added depth for our Fly River Turtle. He was getting too big for the 110 gallon. Here's a pic of him cruising around in his new home. We've since added some Congo tetras and Goyder River Rainbows.

Here's a crappy pic from my iPhone. As much as these phones can do you'd think they'd have a better camera

Oh, my other complain about this setup is the short stand, which I like in a way because it is easier to reach the top of the tank
