Again, after the first 3 didn't work, why did you think that another 3 would? Just ask for your money back and then get something else.

As for Marineland products, I see way too many threads both on MFK and on google complaining about faulty products across the board.

I rather save myself the hassle and completely boycott their products. Simply staying away from them. There are enough products and price ranges for better quality that going Marineland for anything makes as about as much sense as writing entire sentences in caps lock.

I'm one of the countless with swearing off the marineland heaters forever.

Damn killed half of my precious stock in one of my tanks and I immediately tossed every one of them after reading other peoples threads and creating my own too.... never looked back.

I have been using my marineland 1140 powerhead and marineland 660 powerhead for about 4 years now and I got them used. They are a lot older. No problems whatsoever with the powerheads, I will get them again.

Sorry for getting off topic, but I don't believe the heaters or the powerheads in question use a ground wire. :screwy:

Nice post. (contradict yourself much?)

OP, if you have a multi-meter and know how to operate it, I could help you confirm the cause of your shock.

Yes it does make a difference, honda 237. Different stores can and do purchase different wholesale supplier lot numbers of the same make, model and/or type of products, usually sold throughout the U.S. and as in this situation "Marineland Heaters and 1140 Powerheads".

As an example, Wal-Mart may get a different lot number which actually is a good working product, where PetCo or PetSmart may have a different and ineffective product of the same model, but with a different lot number.

I happen to own two 1140 powerheads which I have owned for 10 going on 11 years and they're still running strong without ill effect to any fish. Now, if the OP is experiencing issues with these two products with it's having adverse effects on his fish, it may be worth looking into. Especially if someone like myself may desire to purchase more of the same items proven to be worth their quality of manufacturing in the near or distant future.

My point being, if it's a defect, then it can be adressed by consumers to the manufacturer and greater attention to detail can be put into the QC of it's production, making it once again a lucrative and cost effective product for hobbists to use.

I hope this explains why I asked the question I did. Thank you for challenging my reason for the question. I do enjoy a good debate once in a while. :D ~David
There might be one problem with that, and that is, what if they are a small business which buys from a supplier and not the manufacturer? Then they could all be mixed lots. I understand your point, I didn't even think about that.

But on topic, I did lose one of the new style ones after 2 weeks of use, now the other two old style I have lasted 2+ years without a problem. And are still going strong.
