Anyone have any bad expierence with marineland stealth pro heaters? I was sitting on the couch watching TV tonight when i heard a hissing sound coming from my tank. At first thought i was maybe my skimmer or canister filter. Unplugged everything to with no avail. I started to smell something burning and got really worried. I looked at my 300 watt heater to see bubbles coming out of it. I unplugged it quickly and pulled it out. It was scalding hot and had a crack running down the side of it. Im still watchin my fish to make sure nothing leeched into the water. Marineland is suppose to have a lifetime warranty on all their heaters but you have to have a receipt and send it off to get a replacement. I bought the heater over a year ago and dont have a receipt. Ive researched the subject and found a couple of instances that was similar to mine. I also saw where customer service was a paint in the butt. Any advice??

Hope not , Ive got two of them. Keep us up to date on that.

I don't know man, I've had the "up to 30g" one for just about a year now in my nano and no problems with it. Its the Marineland Shatter Proof Stealth 300 watt.

I was in same situation as you couple of weeks ago. 150W heater cracked, 2 years old and no reciept. Called customer service and they said send it back due to lifetime warranty. 4 days later I got a brand new one .. no questions ask. Thats what I call customer service!

Hopefully they will be as generous to me as well.

There have been multiple threads here lately about issues with these heaters. I have had on stay on and raise the temp in my tank to 86F. There have been a few that I have seen with the same issue as yours.....crack going down the side. Also one or two exploded on this website. I just bought Ebo Jagers for my 180. I will switch out my other tanks over time. They all use the marineland with no problems yet. Also I hate the green LED light that stays on all night and lights up the tanks.

Call MarineLand this morning and they said send it back to them and they'll send a replacement without receipt.

I bought one of these heaters for a fw tank this past spring. Just recently it quick working. No cracks or anything visibly wrong with it. I will try calling the company too.

Had one cook 2 red belly piranhas. Temp got to 105 for god knows how long. I came home from work and found them bloated, upside down bobbing in the water. I called and told them what happened. I didn't get it replaced because I don't want to have it happen again. Never had a problem with there filters thank goodness.
