Marineland Magnum 350 Issues.

I recently bought a marineland magnum 350 canister filter for my 50 gallon tank.
I set it up nicely and I fill the water up all the way up, I start it and water starts running but there are air bubbles.
I looked it up on google and it said to unplug and lift top to remove air bubbles so I did that and I got as close as possible.
Then I think its all okay, then 30 minutes later i look at my filter and there is only 80% of the canister full with massive air bubbles with the intake tube shooting water like nuts.
I turn off motor, lift and let it fill but 30 minutes later same thing happens again. Anyone know whats going on? Thanks!

Your lid isn't sealing. Get some silicon lubricant and put it on the o-ring for the lid. Marineland sells it.

I just use vasoline on the o-ring on mine. Make sure the lid is perfectly lined up too, if the output on the lid isn't exactly lined up with the lift tube then that side of the lid won't seal completely which will let it suck in air.
