Hi everybody,

What are the rules when purchasing market shrimp for your fish? I would definitely appreciate it! I just got some shrimp today and i feel like it wont be good for the fishes. I have indo dats, delhezi and an endlicheri. Thanks in advance.

#1 rule before purchasing any Market bought shrimp fresh or frozen is to ALWAYS check the ingredients.
ingredients should only read:shrimp, salt
anything else may do harm to your fish.

1. Go to market.
2. Go to seafood dept.
3. Pick up shrimp.
4. Pay for shrimp.
5. Take shrimp home.
6. Peel shrimp.
7. Cut shrimp into pieces small enough for your fish to eat.
8. Feed fish to shrimp.

I think thats all you need to know about shrimp. NOW RUN FOREST RUN!!!!!

:iagree:

I've seen some packaged frozen shrimp (a lot of the ones from asia) that contain preservatives and also other chemicals. I just go to the local fish market / supermarket and buy some fresh headless shrimp that I wash and then freeze in ziplock bags. Haven't had a problem with those.

6 and 7 are optional.. no real need to peel for larger fish and same with 7..

I'll go along with the seafood counter shrimp....It's usually cheaper if you stick with the smaller shrimp...under 3 bucks a pound at times... I never bother pealing them but I do pull the tails off before I feed it to them. I like doing this rather than cutting them off because that wastes perfectly good food. Squeeze...pinch...and pull and you get all of the meat out...more times than not.

I've seen a lot of "enhanced" frozen crap as well and personally I don't trust it. I also don't use cooked shrimp...but thats mostly because all of my fish rezected it the one time I tryed a freezer burned bag out on them.

Wow. Thanks to all of you that had replied. Much appreciation. I bought some cooked one's but my dad says its not really "cooked" so i was like ok. but it says cooked.. lol. Also does many of you guys use vitachem? I looking into purchasing some of vitachem. What is the name or product or the garlic seasoning? Thanks again!
