I was wondering, I have always fed my ray prawns, earthworms, and massivore, and I was thinking about trying out market shrimp. Lots of people say they leave the shell on. Do you guys mean the whole shell of the shrimp, like with the head and everything? I assume you mean just the shrimp body without the head, but please let me know.

I buy the shrimp already peeled, but I dought that leaving the head on will hurt. The head also has alot of protein in it.;)

Right now my rays are too small so feed them with shell on as they just make a mess, but with my other fish that can swallow the shrimp w/ shell on I prefer to feed that way. The shell has extra nutrients in it.

Sorry to sound like Im beating a dead horse here, but shell on means WITH THE HEAD?? And the tail? Right? I dont want to feed my ray the head or the tail if I shouldnt

i have fed live crayfish to my rays in the past so shell on or head on is no different... because of the other fish in my tank i usually peel the shrimp but it doesnt matter... the shell is a little extra calcium if i remember correctly

Thanks Nic, Im going to stop by an Asian market near my house either later today or later in the week and get some shrimp to start feeding my ray and aro with.

i say leave all on its how they would eat shrimps in the wild
