My point was that you never know who's armed and who's going to take it to that level. If you're talking about fighting outside of competition those variables have to be accounted for.

but that's irrelivent since my point was only in a 1 on 1 fist fight scenario. my specific point was that boxing, kickboxing/muay thai and bjj were the best arts to be well rounded at in a 1 on 1 fist fight.

if you account for other variables then like i said before,........... weapons, guns, bats, 5 on 1, 10 on 1,............ then 20 years of training in anything will not help much. then there would be no point in debating if bjj, tkd, kung fu, karate or whatever was superior

I'd like to point out that combat training usually incorporated multiple styles. So if Marine Recon, Navy Seals, Army Green Berets, Russian Spetz Natz, etc. think any one style is lacking I'd go with them. While many of you are quite accomplished martial artists and dangerous most don't actually kill for a living. I'm assuming if you did you'd point it out.

BTW who the hell shots for a take down in a street fight? Sounds like suicide to me, pressure points galore right at your opponents finger tips. Some that won't leave you bloody and confused but dead if the opponent know what they are doing.

Pretty sure this will shortly get closed for being way off topic.

Actually the combat styles teach you counters for bats and knives. Guns at more than 3 steps away mean you are dead and all the training in the world won't help you.

i think they train you to try and defend or disarm as best they can. but in a real life situation the person with the weapon almost always wins regardless of training from the victim

Hmmmmm. I wonder if Knifegill is mad, I've haven't seen him post back yet. Can't blame him though.

Vladfloroff, you are very right sambo, and many of the armed forces combats are very good. In fact the armed forces combat would be the most well rounded, although, they don't lie in just one art.

Svang, obviously nothings going to change your mind. I don't really care what you believe, but I am telling you that you are wrong. Those are not the only styles that will keep you alive on the street.
